Intertribal Pow Wow

Notes: This is a non-competition powwow. The American Indian Pow Wow
Association ("AIPA") is hosting its 34th Annual Pow Wow at Thomas Square in
Honolulu, Hawaii on Saturday and Sunday, October 4th and 5th, 2008, from 10:00
am to 5:00 pm, both days. Everyone is invited to attend this free event, which
will feature dancing, drumming, singing, arts and crafts, and food. No drugs or
alcohol will be permitted.
The Blackfoot A-1 Club, from Alberta, Canada, will be the host drum at the pow
wow. The Head Staff at the Thomas Square Pow Wow includes: Head Man Dancer, Joe
Hacker (Rosebud Lakota); Head Woman Dancer, Cindy Dawson (Dine/Apache); Master
of Ceremonies, John Dawson (San Carlos Apache); and Arena Director Tom Rowland
(Oglala Lakota). Guest drums include: 808NDNZ, an intertribal drum from Oahu,
Hunter's Moon from the Big Island of Hawaii and the Wild horse Singers from
Southern California. There are ample volunteer opportunities for those who want
to help with the pow wow-no experience required.
